DEEP REST

MINAMILIST RESTORATIVE SEQUENCE FOR STRESS RELIEF

Scroll down to learn about the benefits of Deep Rest Minimalist Restorative Yoga

WHAT IS MINIMALIST RESTORATIVE?

It is a very simple restorative yoga class that we've designed to give everyone the opportunity to experience healing from deep rest very simply and in the comfort of your own home.

You will need a couple of props - 1 or 2 bolsters, two yoga blocks and a blanket. An eye cushion is nice to use too. If you don't have yoga props you can use a 1 - 2 large / European cushions.

The class takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

The body receives somewhere from 6 - 10 hours of sleep each night and yet does not 'heal itself' of the stress and trauma it endures from modern life. Restorative yoga is considered the true antidote to stress because it allows you to relax deeply with awareness.

Relaxing with awareness is the key to bringing the mind-body into a state of balance or homeostasis, similar to the effect of meditation.

Stress related illnesses (Anxiety, chronic fatigue, depression, cold depression, panic attacks etc ) can all be positively supported and elevated with Deep Rest Restorative Yoga. As we come more fully into the grey period of the planet Cold Depression is going to continue to emerge as a leading cause of stress related illness.

Cold Depression is simply when the external demands on a person are greater than their internal capacity to cope. We keep ourselves distracted with work, entertainment and addictions and the depression grows. This load on our nervous systems eventually makes us 'cold' and numb and without realising we have dissociated our emotions and the nervous system becomes reprogrammed in coping mechanisms.

EFFECTS ON THE BODY

This all has devastating health effects on the body. Every essential system in the body is affected by stress. Disruption in digestion, circulation, sleep, hormones, motivation, elimination, reproduction, relationships, brain function etc all have associations with stress and can be reduced and sometimes cured with conscious deep rest and a regular restorative yoga practice.

You will feel rested and relaxed afterwards and if you make this a regular practice you will start to reclaim your happiness, your health and your overall wellbeing.
